These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

It's a sad morning. I'm going to have to say goodbye to the beautiful roses that arrived last week. I've trimmed them and re-vased them, and re-treated them, but there is just so much one can do. They are wilted, drooping over the edge of the vase, and becoming depressing. Last night I looked at them and thought, "Perhaps one more day." This morning, there is no question. They are gone. Sighhhhh.

On a good note, I got out early today and finished up a task that I started yesterday before I got too hot to finish. Doing it this morning was smart; it was on the west side of the house, so I was shaded while I completed it. Funny, isn't it, how a job that is grueling in the direct sun is an easy one in the cool shade of the early morning? So all the foxtail grass heads that I could find are plucked, bagged and will be on their way to the dump in an hour or so. Jazi and her buddies have less to worry about now. Oh, I'm sure those dang things will grow back, as there are bound to be some I missed, but at least it is far safer and I should be able to keep them at bay now.

I need to get some more Roundup. I discovered some thistles that I missed spraying the other day. Dang things! I had just a few last year, and I thought my Big Battle of the Thistles two years ago has nearly 100% successful. Apparently not. I must admit, however, that they are not nearly as bad as before the Battle.

And speaking of fighting nature in my yard, I'm in The War again, too. Stupid Scrub Oak (or some call it Shrub Oak). It is back with a vengeance. The areas that were completely cleared at the end of summer last year are doing well. They have just a slight regrowth, and will be easy to take care of. But the areas I've not been able to get to as yet have bigger, fuller bushes than I've ever seen on this piece of earth! OK, OK, I know this is how it works! I really do! You clear an area, work on keeping it free of regrowth while clearing another area, a slow and steady process. But look .... it is June 1 and I'm already feeling icky about that part of my summer tasks! It seems too slow and too tedious. There is not one fun thing about it.

OK, off that.

Uhhhhhhmmmmm. OK, I got nuttin' else. I need to get a pork roast ready for the oven, as well as some veggies to go along with it. Anyone wanna come over for dinner? Be here before 6:30!

  3. I don't think I'll be able to keep up with all the weeding/landscaping in my own yard until I retire. By then I'll be ready to move into a condo and let someone else do it for me.

  4. Dave, would you believe I was actually looking for a zero-yardcare condo when I found this place? This location, the amazing vista I have here, shoved all that out the window! I may gritch about it all, but in the end, it is well worth it.

  5. So sorry about your roses Lyn. Go buy yourself a new bouquet of flowers! I hate weeding and I do believe that most of my outside time is spent doing just that! Dinner sounds good. I'm alone tonight and out of leftovers, Hate to cook too! Wish I lived closer! Love Di ♥

  6. Di, that yardwork/weeding gets to be a terrible burden, for sure. I've always hated weeding, thus, had no garden that needed much of it. This is just awful, as these "weeds" are 2-7 feet tall! Arghh.

BTW, tonight is giant baked potatoes, loaded with whatever one wants and an assortment of fruits. I'm psyched!

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
