These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Technology

I called the manufacturer today and their tech department got my iPod and the new theater system in sync.

HOORAY!!

It works, but is a bit of a pain in the butt. I can now hear my music, but I have to walk to the theater system, start the iPod manually, move through the menu to what I want, and then put it in the dock. My old one was mostly controlled by the remote for the theater system. Oh well. It's a small thing, I suppose. The guy who was helping me was a bit of a doofus, one of those who read everything from a scripted monologue, and when it didn't go exactly as his sheet told him, he didn't know quite what to do. I was smarter then him on that. The point is that it works now.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the old TV. I've been thinking about putting an ad on the community bulletin board, sort of a last-century version of Craig's list, and offering it free to anyone who will pick it up. It would make for a good TV for someone who can't spend what a new one costs. I think I might see if it works. Can't hurt!

Now I need to go set up the old theater system in my office. I'm so technologically fixed up I can hardly stand it!

  1. My husband and I absolutely hate calling our cable company. Once you get past the animated lady to a human being you keep your fingers crossed hoping that you can understand them!
We needed to call to negotiate another six month deal. I drew the short straw!!!
But I got lucky and got a very nice young and helpful man. He set us right up.
Don't you dread having to call those places? I hate it.
So what do you do, listen to your Ipod through the t.v.?

  2. I know what you mean. I'm always so happy when I get someone who seems to be able to think without referring to a sheet every word.

No the iPod plays through the home theater/sound system. I go about my business and listen, dance while I work, and sing off key!

  3. I'm not technologically advanced. No cell phone, no I-POD, no home theatre. Right now I'm trying to put some old home movies on YouTube. I did manage to convert them from VHS to DVD+R. But that's as far as I've gotten and I'm stuck.

  4. Just a suggestion, but a friend of mine recently donated her old, yet great condition tv to a local womens shelter. I had not thought of them, but when she mentioned it...I couldn't think of a better thing she could have done with it.

  5. Well, Dave I'd give anything to know how to convert from VHS to DVD, so don't minimize your ability! If you'll do that part for me, I'll get it to youtube for you!

Andrea, the thing is the TV needs some repair. I suspect it isn't really terribly expensive, but I don't know how much. And most shelters don't have money to spend on repairs.

But I'm still open to suggestions! Annyone??

  6. Right now, I am HATING technology. My camera is giving me some kind of fits, my computer won't let me save some great pictures I received in email. I just posted, but it's boring, boring, boring without pictures. I'm in a GRRRRR mood too.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

  7. Wish I lived closer because I would buy your old TV. And yet another reason for me to move to NM.

  8. Pam, I think the thing is, well, at least with me, that I feel so helpless when technology goes sour. I often have no idea what to do! Good luck with yours!

Caroline, that would be true! Or, for now, you can come get it and have the repair done there at home. wink, wink!!

  9. That's what I thought! We bought Katie a Sony Ipod dock and it sounds better than my little stereo!
    Have fun dancing!

  10. I have a separate, free-standing iPod dock, too, a Bose. I move it around from place to place. When I'm working on the deck, I sometimes have it out there, or in the bedroom if I'm spending some time in there. Recently when I had guests, I had the Bose iPod dock on the deck, and another iPod in the one in the living room, so there was soft music wherever people were. It was nice.

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
