Friday morning, I'm going to the thrift shop for training. It cancelled last week because of a change of schedules. This is just three hours, and I'm free again for the weekend. Thank goodness.
On Tuesday a friend is flying home from California, so three of us will pick her up and spend the day doing our shopping and eating, then home in the evening. I'm looking forward to it. I'm almost out of some of my treasured, carefully rationed items from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.
It will be good to be back on a more relaxed pace.
I'm so far behind on reading blogs and FB. I've been trying to keep up as well as I can, but I've only skimmed much of it. I don't know if it makes sense to try to read everything, but I'm going to do my best. If I don't make it around to everyone, please overlook it this time. It's been hectic.
When I got home today from minding Linda's shop, the new sound system was on the deck. I put it together and checked everything out .... IT WORKS!!!!!! I've tried all modes, and everything works just great. I'm SO relieved! This helps me know what I'm going to be doing in the next few days .... watching some of the DVD backup in my house! BTW, I was a smart cookie, if I do say so. I disconnected the old base, hooked the new one to the speakers that were already in place, and put batteries in the remote. I decided that I was not going to take down all the old speakers if I didn't have to, especially since the speakers didn't seem to be part of the problem. It worked. Thank goodness I don't have to re-hand speakers or re-tuck wires.
I am still ticked at the FedEx folks, however. I'm going to try to talk to a person tomorrow. Yes, I live in the boonies, but the UPS guy gets here, rain/snow/fog/sunshine, so why can't this dude? Well, I'll get an answer one way or another. The nerve.
I've packaged the old system and I'll be dropping it off by the end of the week. I'm glad it has worked out. At last!
Today as I drove into town, the sky was totally blue with the exception of this one cloud hanging over the Capitan Range.
This is facing East northeast. |
A little closer look at the single cloud. |
Two hours later I went about a block from Linda's shop to the grocery to get a few things for home and something for my lunch and this is what I saw in the West Southwest. |
Ominous! |
This is the Southeast, big clouds but nothing to write home about. |
This is facing North. The big evergreens are in the Smokey Bear Museum grounds. |
The clouds blustered up a smidgeon of rain droplets, but nothing serious. It dampened the ground, but that's about all. Ya just never know.
Gotta move on and read a few more posts, and then it is off to bed. Talk with you all soon.
Gosh, I love your cloud pictures!! :)
ReplyDeleteNo worries about reading blogs. That's the story of my life anymore! I'm trying really hard to stay catch up right now, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Hope you get that much needed rest!
I can't help but love the clouds here. I always have. they are just different than I've seen anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI suppose everyone gets behind from time to time. I enjoy reading everyone's blogs, and I feel like I'm missing something if I don't get around! But I 'spect when I'm more rested I will feel less stressed about it.
Forget the blogs Lyn. Slow down and take it easy. I've got 10 years on you and I know it doesn't get any easier. Sometimes you need to schedule "rest" days!
ReplyDeleteCan't help but wonder that if the clouds are so vividly clear, than what does the night sky look like, especially if you're in the country. The stars must be spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThen again, with how busy you are you have to sleep some time.
The clouds there are indeed very interesting, and lovely to watch I'm sure. Everybody needs to take a break from time to time. Try as hard as we can it is almost impossible to keep an even flow of activities.
ReplyDeleteMoni, I actually do. Well, most of the time I do. I'm definitely doing little for the next few days.
ReplyDeleteDave, in a word .... AWESOME!! The are almost no "city lights" to interfere, and the starry sky is breathtaking. The only place I've seen better is in the middle of the ocean.
Linda, you said a mouthful. As I said, even on days that I don't think I have anything, something comes up.
Lyn, I feel your pain. My life is wayyy busier than I like. We just arrived home from the Adirondacks and tomorrow I'm off again to Pennsylvania to visit with some of my family.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get home from there I'll have two weeks before we leave for our Pacific Northwest trip.
On the other hand, I'm never bored.
I really enjoyed your pictures.
~hippo hugs~
Pam, it is a tricky balance, isn't it? I know I don't want to miss any fun, but if I'm not careful, I'm exhausted. sighhh.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to fly out there, buy enough food for a week. Enough wine for a week and just put my feet up and sit on your deck for an entire week! Will you adopt me?
ReplyDeleteOh wait, I'm too old for that! Well I'll just come one day and promise to help with the cooking and dishes, O.K.? Good!
I love your photos Lyn, you have a good camera. Very clear. And so glad you got your delivery and it's all good now. I'll have too listen too it when I come for that visit! Love Di ♥
Di, what's age got to do with it? If you're bringing food and wine, helping to cook and do dishes, I'll adopt you!! Even for a week! It's a deal! Fly into ABQ, I'll pick you up, we'll hit Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, come back down here and kick back! I'd even let Jake come along, so long as he promises to keep the testosterone level low. Oh, wait. He can have testosterone if he will help me with a couple projects.
ReplyDeleteLife is good. :)
Get some rest. Enjoy your friend's visit. Keep taking your beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe had some serious weather here yesterday but luckily it was AFTER I got home from work.
ReplyDeleteI'm finally get back into the blog game myself! :)
Hey, Stacy! I'm glad you're back! I'll put you back on my list1
