These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Looka wha'hoppent in my neck of the woods today .....

SNOW!!!  OK, OK, it's actually residual sleet and small hail fro an hour before. Had ya going didn't I???

And it was really foggy through the canyon as I left work. All that melting ice and the relatively warm air caused it.

"Relative warmth" is this .... 55°.  It isn't warm, but just enough to melt the ice. And relatively cold, because this is August 4th, for goodness sake!!

There was an incredible deluge in Ruidoso around noon to 1:00. I'm telling you it was coming down in buckets! In fact, a couple buckets slipped through and fell in the parking lot!  LOL! Then it started sleeting. Then it started hailing (bean size). Then it rained some more. It was incredible!

I left about 2:30, and my truck was amazingly clean from the rain! I love natural carwashes! I ran by my house before going to my unpaid gig at the thrift shop, so I could check on The Kids. It had rained here, but not so hard, obviously. There was about 1/4 inch in the gauge, and the ground was nicely wet without puddles or running arroyos. I had left the windows up just a couple inches, and it didn't seem to have rained in, happily for me!

Driving the two miles on my dirt road and back again, then the 8 miles of dirt road to Capitan and back again, left my truck looking like I've been out "mudding"!!! Sigh. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but I didn't think of it till just now.  Well, maybe it will rain again tonight or tomorrow and leave it shiny again. Let's hope!!

I heard from my daughter today after the mediation. It went pretty well. She will be alright. Not a lot of surplus money, of course, but it is going to be sufficient to gt by without terrible scrimping. That's a relief, and it is a relief that it is over. Since they reached a settlement, she doesn't have to endure waiting till January for a trial, or going through the trial, either. The papers will be filed and finalized soon, probably within a couple weeks. I know she is sad about the real end of the marriage, but she is also relieved to have it over, and I hope she will sleep well tonight. Onward and upward!

My stepdaughter is doing well. The word on the biopsies won't be for a while, but it looks good. She is up and walking a little now, a good sign. My reports on her progress are, uhmmm, well, less than full of information because her daughters, my granddaughters are somewhat not good reporters! Gah! I'll be glad when I can talk to her!

This has been a tough week for me. Worrying about my girls and a couple personal worries have just kept me off kilter. Nothing is serious at this point, but it has just been stressful. I'm very glad it is nearly over. I had wanted to do an art reception this evening, but didn't make it away from the thrift shop in time. Not a big deal. I'm looking forward to the weekend to get some rest and do some housecleaning, a badly neglected item in my house of late!

For the record, I think I'm going dancing tomorrow night. That's always subject to change, of course!

  1. This is all wonderful news about your girls. I'm so glad things worked out the way they did. Now let's just hope our daughters can get on with their lives in a positive way.

  2. Thank you for the update on your girls. Continuing prayer. And yes, I thought you had snow! 55 sounds good. Even though lower temps predicted here for today (94), near 100% humidity makes it feel like 115.
Have a great weekend and that comes with aprayer that those personal issues resolve positively and gently.

  3. RET, thank you, and yes, I really hope it is an easier trek now for our girls.

LC, thanks for following and caring. and yes, although they are over some humps, both still need prayers. As for me, it's not serious, just annoying little matters that slow down life. I know it will work out. It's just a pain when one is going through it, you know? Thanks.

  4. My brother is going through some domestic issues of him own. It depresses you to hear the details. It just seems that relationships anymore are such a challenge. The glue that holds families together just isn't what it used to be.

Must be an interesting life there--the weather, the scenery, art receptions, dancing, the family of dogs. Enjoy it.

  5. I say you should go dancing to get rid of some of the stress Lyn. If you're feeling up to it. My son and his wife have been separated for a few months now and it's amazing how much stress it puts on us as parents even though they are adults. So I get that but glad your daughter doesn't have to go through the whole court deal. And I know how awful it is waiting to hear about test results. It just seems like forever. I hope that they all come out good of coarse but in the meantime it sounds as though you could use a bit of fun! Besides it will give you an excuse to get all gussied up!!
    Love Di ♥

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
