These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................

Lovely, lazy times

I'm lying in bed still, at 8:17. Not terribly unusual for the weekend, but for a reason.

My kids are here! Daughter TL and her two kiddos are visiting. Since part of the gang is sleeping on the hide-a-bed in the living room, it limits my movement around the house. I sneaked into the kitchen and quietly microwaved water for a cup of tea to bring back to bed, but even that disturbed the sleeping, I think. Nevertheless, The Pups and I will stay here a while longer to let the Floridians sleep as much as possible. Their internal clocks are bouncing around quite a bit, being used to being two hours ahead of our Mountain time, and the kids are teens (15 and 11), so sleeping long and late is good for them. Yesterday TL brought her laptop and crawled in the bed with the pups and me!

I'm so enjoying having them here. We've played board games a lot since they arrived. They have become great fans of Farkle. That's good, because it is one of my favorite games, and I get to play it much too frequently. We've also done a smidgeon of shopping, playing tourists. Too little, because (1) they aren't used to the cold temps!! and (2) fibromyalgia is giving me fits. Yesterday, I was plain ol' miserable all day long, but it seems their tolerance for being in the cold was about the same for my tolerance for being on my feet. Win/win!!

We've talked about visiting a museum today. that is probably another win/win, as it is inside and has lots of places for me to sit. And since they want a game of Farkle to take home, we can grab that along the way. Probably will be an easier day than yesterday for us all.

OK, TL just came back to join us. After some doggie excitement and rearranging, we all fit! Time for girl talk or just togetherness in quiet appreciation of the moments we have so rarely.

Later!

  2. What a lovely picture of family life you paint. I've been missing from blogland because of my own family, visitors and travel, so it is good to be slowly starting to get back to normal again. I am just going to look up Farkle on google, it's not a game I am familiar with. A very Good New Year to you and yours when it comes and Every Blessing. Freda from Dalamory.

    1. Freda, it is a fun game of dice. There are many variations of rules. Glad you came by to visit here, too, along your path. See you soon!

  6. Oh.The morning sneakaround reminds me of times when I was a kid visiting my grandparents. So sweet of you to respect the sleeping in needs of the teen years!

    1. Some of the best memories are made on cozy, lazy mornings like that. When my kids were small, Sunday morning meant the both joined their dad and me in the bed to read the Sunday paper (comics!!) and watch cartoons. I relish those memories.

And yes, after raising 5 kids through their teens and having a good memory of my own teens, I know that extended sleep isn't laziness. I'm glad to even watch them sleep. :)

If you have something to say about it, just stick out your thumb, and I'll slow down so you can hop aboard! But hang on, 'cause I'm movin' on down the road!!! No time to waste!!!
