My doctor started me on an asthma inhaler last Thursday, and what a difference it has made! Who knew?? We discussed what I could to do prevent or lessen further events with bronchitis. This last bout was far more manageable, and I wanted to make the next better yet. There was one small detail I hadn't mentioned to him, something I thought was simply part of the bronchitis and not worth mentioning, and his face lit up. He said "Oh my gosh, that is asthma!"
I'm doing so much better, it is hard to describe! Does it mean I won't have further episodes? No. But it feels great to be breathing more normally. I have equated this change in breathing to when I got glasses in the third grade and realized what amazing, wonderful things I hadn't seen before. Breathing more freely and fully is like being in a whole new world!
This indicates why several other situations have been difficult for me: why I was so badly overcome with altitude sickness; why the windy season bothers me so badly, greater than an "allergy" attack; etc. Isn't it amazing how much it helps to simply understand some of the "why's"?
Life is good!
These are random musings of my life journey, the people, animals, places, and events which have woven, and continue to weave, a tapestry that is me. We all know there is no real destination, only the ongoing experiences which blend together, creating the trail. Each step gives a glimpse of what is to come, without allowing me to see the end result. It is exciting. I have a home base that is mine, that gives me a place to rest. This is it. This is where my heart is, no matter where I journey...................
How fabulous you have a diagnosis and a symptom fix!
ReplyDeleteSo much relief!
DeleteI was diagnosed with asthma in 2006 and once I got it under control, the difference is amazing like you mentioned. I used a varietyof non- traditional medicines as well what doc gave me....I mean vitamins...quercitin, selenium, slippery elm bark ( throat coat tea).
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better.
I'm looking into some non-trads, also. I do non-trads whenever I can. I more or less go with the supplements and supplement with traditional medication rather than the other way around.
DeleteIt is great when they discover the cause and can provide a solution!
ReplyDeleteIt is marvelous!
DeleteCrazy, isn't it. I too have been having to use my inhaler this winter. It really does help. I have even had three breathing treatments in the last six weeks after never having one in my life. I think as we age, our allergies change and we can develop asthma. Of course, the lousy air that is so full of smog doesn't help any.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I don't have to contend with is smog!! Hallelujah!!
DeleteFrom LC: I am so happy for you. And I can better understand what a difference
ReplyDeleteit makes through your comparison with getting glasses. Never had the
breathing difficulties but extreme nearsightedness went undiagnosed
until I was in fifth grade. A new world indeed!

DeletePack a few carrots and those horses and mule will be your friend forever. Do try the Himalayan Sand stone for some asthma relief. Since burning it a few hours a day I do not wheeze at all!!! Worth a try!!
ReplyDeleteThe herb store here carries them. I plan to get one soon, MM! Thanks for the tip!
